- Our sense of community and drinking among young people
- Lack of action from Our Mayor - Norman Bishop-Rowe regarding the MUGA that was promised for Croftlands, this spring and lack of support for the community over the Roxy licensing problems
- The continued lack of supervision of County Council Departments by our Councillors: first Highways then Waste Disposal and education in Barrow
- Overspending by the government on defense
- Our encouragement of abusive behaviour by celebrities
- The wrong focus in our schools that fails to give young people enthusiasm for life - "There's nothing to do here - so we drink into the early hours . . .
- The opening of Tesco in Ulverston - hoping the public give these crooks with whitewashed faces, a wide birth
- The ongoing political scene, not only national but especially locally where inaction is the order of the day
Continued anonymous participation pales in comparison with eyecontact and conversations with people in the flesh.
This is the drawback of the present use of the Internet - we end up with a lot of shadowy exchanges that lead nowhere. Forums I've witnessed are depressing places; to be taken in small doses only.
We need more detailed contact with others in order to develop action that is supported.
Soldiering on, on ones own without support seems pointless. This is why the number of postings here have diminished. A lot more satisfaction is gained by contact with people ready to do!
So this is what I'm doing at present: doing with my hands rather than writing what's in my head.

Do you ever stop moaning, tell me whats wrong with tesco??.If it brings competition to the town then great but you really need to give tesco a go the town needs big name stores in the town
I'm not moaning, just fighting!
Yes we're glad to have Texco here to fill our empty store.
However in the long term we need a local store with Ulverston's interests at heart.
With profits and business recycling in the local economy. Trade with local suppliers.
Lets use Tesco as the stimulus to building a thriving Co-op run by and for the locals. A store with morals and honest labeling.
So in time we want Tesco to wish that they'd never come here. To realise that businesswise they made a mistake. At the same time we need to plan what we'll put in its place when they go.
I've used Tesco every day since it openned . It's great that it's open late and the choice and service is good. I can get in and out in 5 minutes ,much quicker than the dingy ,scruffy Co-op with it's dozy ,scruffy staff.
It's people like you that make Britain the great country it is.
Read the label on the chicken portions and thank your lucky stars that you weren't born into this world as a Tesco chick.
Ditto as an imported Danish piglet.
If cats were raised in similar conditions there would be a News of the World outcry. Such is British hypocrisy.
doe's it really matter what the labels on the chickens say,end of the day you'll still buy a chicken elsewhere and eat it.There's only you i've heard slag tesco off everyone else i talk to in ulverston are over the moon that there here
First, you're clearly not talking or listening to a lot of people who object to Tesco.
Second, The difference is the way that food is produced. See above.
The Co-op have a higher standard for the growing condition; for this you pay very slightly more.
There was a revolt at the Tesco AGM intigated by Hugh Fearnley of River Cottage showed that even the share holders are concerned about their managements practices.
Tesco need pressure exerted on them to change.
Some Towns have successfully stopped Tesco invading them becuase of the negative effects on their towns. If Ulverstonians are in favour of Tesco I suspect it's because they are unaware of the facts.
Press the Tesco label to find out more. There's even a leaflet been prepared.
Tesco chicks are badly done to whereas Co-op chicks have a great life before getting their necks wrung ? Oh right. I don't really care at all about chickens and piglets ,they are food that's all. I am not a hypocrite Geoff but you are a pompous prick . If you threw a man into a pig pen they would eat him and he would die a painful death so what's the difference ? I have a busy working life ,Tesco is convenient and better than anywhere else in town. Unlike retired people I don't yet have the time to ponder every purchase .
Eating animals doesn't have to mean that we don't respect them.
Some people come across as though they think the world was created for them.
Wild life is very similar in structure to ourselves - just a minute difference in our DNA.
Not to worry: the time for humans is rapidly coming to an end and other wildlife will take over.
Please show some respect for me and my views too. So far you are mostly rant.
that anonymous dude is a bit of a fool. i'm with you on this one geoff
