Who's the SLDC councillor for this area - Jamie Samson Conservative.
How about Colin Williams Labour, the Town Councillor - I would have thought he would have had it fixed!
I'm minded to give SLDC two weeks to fix it - or else - someone may have fixed it themselves!
What do you think - a couple (three - I'll direct the traffic) of us with a rope?
Or do we need a tug-of-war team.
What are the bets it can be done by a 75 year old on his own ?

This gets on my nerves too ,it just shows that the CC don't care about Ulverston. If you look a few yards further up the hill there should be another signpost saying taxi-rank and details of waiting restrictions. It vanished months ago after being knocked over by a van. The yellow road markings have gone too. The town council have complained but nowt has been done .............as per usual.
I've reported this to Councillor Colin Williams, who replies to say that he's reported it to John Bell, Head of Capita Simmons.
Why only now?
It doesn't seem to me to be a very serious attempt and last time Colin got involved over the asphalt repair to cobbles in Lower Brook Street, nothing happened - until I repaired it myself!
Will it be any different this time round?
I happen to know that Norman Bishop-Rowe has reported this 2 or 3 times over a period of months . To me there are too many levels of management and not enough people on the ground. It is pathetic really that a simple job can take so long.
There's one on the corner of Weint and the car park thats just held up by a jubilee clip. Thats been like it since well before Xmas...and before you shout, yes I have pointed it out to the appropriate Councillor, but yes, the wheels grind exceedingly slow!!

Councillor Col is like the rest of the muppets a complete waste of time and space.I remember the post about the repairs and how he would get it sorted,weeks later it was still the same.They all say they'll sort it but it never gets sorted,and they wonder why people don't vote
Come, come, Dr G Dellow, the cost of sending out a repair vehicle with two men to fix it, with perhaps a return to the depot to get correct tools and materials, (this maybe after a trip by an 'engineer' from head office to see what is involved, followed by someone in accounts to cost the repair and maybe a visit by an executive to evaluate whether the cost can be justified and on what grounds - aesthetic? health and safety?) the whole business is beyond the public purse, especially when we have an odd jobber for free in the vicinity. Maybe the job is down to be done when major works take place?
Meanwhile think of the attention it draws. How did that happen? Car backing up? Aggressive car owner kicking it? Someone's boyfriend leaning on it half the night? Too many dogs lifting their legs day after day in the same direction?
I received a reply from Councillor Norman Bishop-Rowe re the above:
"This matter is being actively pursued by County Cllrs. Airey and Hornby, SLDC Licensing Officers and by myself. Cuts in government funding and more red tape are not helping."
I seems that the system is very reluctant to respond to our wishes.
It would feel a lot better to me if The Town Council had authority to get curtain things done if they were willing to pay for/towards the cost.
I'm told by a County Officer:
" I know parishes have been able to get things done by making contributions to schemes in the past."
Why not here?
Pull the sign out, get it in a big vice and knock it reet then a bit of cement, cost about £10!
First try failed.
Deliberately used a weakish electricity cable which just stretched and broke.
Method of operation worked well.
The sign is no longer wonky!
It was clearly unstable and could have fallen anytime.
If you all stopped bleating and stopped to think for just one second what the local authorities have to deal with on a daily basis, you may come to the realisation that a 'leaning sign' really isn't all that important!! Even if it looks messy and offends you!!
Why do you all seem to think that the old fuddy duddies that you vote in will do anything other than feather their own nests?? Go directly to CCC or SLDC, I'm sure they'll do more to help than the councillors. It's you that's introducing the extra levels of management by contacting them in the first place. Bypass them...they don't care....really they don't, or else they would be walking the streets and looking out for these problems themselves!! Besides....in this instance, surely those who created the damage in the first place should be followed up and charged for the repairs. I'm sick and tired of local authorities being hammered all the time.
