Will this picture come back to haunt Nick Clegg?

"I pledge to vote against any increase in fees ." - Clegg.

This picture of a man looking you straight in the eyes, shoulders back, looking pleased with himself wins your confidence.

Then when he gets power, things change dramatically.

This is one reason why students are angry.

You feel that you're dealing with a lying toad who will say anything in order to get elected.

Why do we let them get away with it?

Isn't it time for a new kind of politician to step forward?

One who is careful about what he promises in the first place ?

One we can trust?

But would we then vote for him?
Think where it got Enoch Powell with his "rivers of blood " speech. If you read it now you realise there was a lot of wisdom there - and we branded him a racist which in my view he wasn't but someone trying to face us with reality. - But it's not the way to win favour.

No wonder Shirley Williams was unhappy with the Coalition.

Is she one of a dying breed ? Now she is someone I can trust.

But then would you trust Labour ? - they are all at it - and we continue to lap it all up.

Now can you understand why the students are angry ?

Don't the students and others like them have a point ?

Isn't the problem that we will still support people with no backbone ? People like Blair and Thatcher who convince themselves and thus persuade the gullible public.

Look at the way people in Ulverston will support the load of wimps with no back bone that we have as councillors in Ulverston - yes I'm still mad and hurt at the behaviour of Colin Hodgson, Janet Jenkinson and James Airey when it came to arguing Ulverston's case for fair car parking charges in Ulverston at the Cabinet Meeting I attended.

It was truly unbelievable the way they sucked up to the Graham Vincent and the Kendal Liberals.
Yet believe it or not, people will still vote for them at the next election.

Mind you more and more people are thinking that the system has to change before I'll vote at all.

Is this really the way to go?

Unforunately, we get the politicians we deserve. If we didn't value style over substance and were realistic about what politicians could actually offer once they were in power instead of believing the most outrageous of claims e.g. "Are they promising far more than they could ever deliver?" we'd be a lot better off.

However, the next smiling politician promising massive change (I'm looking at you Mr Obama) will sweep us off our feet again and the cycle will continue.

The toady liberal leader has destroyed his party !
Why does he not just show his true colours and join the "Toxic Tories" party
Perhaps that would be to much to expect from a proven liar.
Who will trust him now.
Well done Tim Farron
