whats the problem with having stuff outside the shop on the pavements??
Nothing, I guess as long as there's room for prams and wheelchairs.
The suggestion (in the travel plan) that cyclists should be allowed to cycle along the roads against the one-way flow is very worrying.
It is more difficult to see a cyclist than a car, so pedestrians might be knocked over. Why can't the cyclists follow the same rule of the road as other vehicles?
The plan also recommends that bollards might be placed along many pavements to prevent people parking on double yellow lines. I ask: why can't the lines be enforced by the traffic wardens? Parking tickets for some will allow most people freedom from obstruction along the pavement.
These points were raised and discussed at the meeting tonight.
The suggestion that cyclists should be encouraged to ride against the flow of traffic put forward by the county was rediculed and dropped like a hot potatoe.
Whilst there is clearly a need to get the traffic wardens to book people who clearly flout the double yellow lines and endanger pedestrians.

Well i'm not surprised it was laughed at,what a stupid idea it was in the first place.Cyclists are a pain no matter where they go on there bikes, skateboarders are even worst.I was driving down victoria road yesturday when a skateboarder thought it would be best to ride the board down the road, cars and buses jamming on and the lad didn't care less about it.
