Are there any other people who are feeling sad?
A few people have had there lives shattered by winning millions through the lottery.
Their lives will never be the same again. They are being plunged onto an emotional roller-coaster with few helpers they can trust.
Is there any evidence to support the idea that previous winners of vast amounts of money have ended up happier?
Or have they ended up in misery, not able to handle the vast change in their lives.
I for one will never envy them as I see no benefit from winning money.

A case of careful what you wish for eh?
A big win can wreck winner's lives, but I feel worse the thousands of people who can't afford to pay their mortgages at the moment and are ill with constant worrying about their bills and providing for their kids.
I don't think it will improve the lives of the IT workers, who seems to have had decent jobs anyway, but the unemployed mechanic will probably benefit.
From research Hunter Davis has done majority of winners are happier, most winners don't change, most will just move to the next level on the social level. Hardly any do what the say they will do when winning the lottery like moving abroad, buying a mansion.
Personally I'd love to win the lottery, but it will never happen - I never buy any tickets.
I certainly wouldn't do any publicity, don't want the press camping at my day, and the postman getting backache with all the begging letters.
I understand that it is those that win millions that have problems.
Winnings of £100,000 are readily assimilated into a present life style.
Surely there should be more prises of lower value.
But then the unthinking punters tend to be attracted to the high jackpots. . . .
Regulation required?
Agree. I would love to see more smaller prizes from £50k . Imagine winning £50k to £100k just a nice lift ,an extension or a cruise or just a couple of years extra retirement ,treat your friends ,give a bit to the hospice.
