Enjoyment

A lovely quote from the obsessive Jonny Wilkinson as he learns not to hammer himself for failure on the Rugby field:

" I appreciate now that performance stems from enjoyment"

"Looking back at the end of the day : "Have I enjoyed myself, and in doing so , have I helped others to enjoy themselves?" "

I too find this a good question to continue to ask myself:

Am I enjoying this?

If not  - stop.

Find another activity - no matter how hard - that you enjoy.

Unfortunately there are some activities we simply have to do whether we enjoy them or not. This is a fact of life. Giving oneself a tiny reward on completion is helpful. Some activities allow for a music background, others maybe watching (actually listening rather than seeing) TV
Apart from which, simply achieving a task even though not enjoyed can be rewarding in itself. This is true of many activities, including some that might actually be painful.

So-called "clown care" has long been used at medical centres in Israel, the United States, Canada, Europe and Australia, usually in children's hospitals. Israel's University of Haifa also recently launched a degree program in "medical clowning."
