Pet Duck kicked to death, Oubas Hill

This behaviour from unknown people will increase in Ulverston if people in communities continue to remain so isolated.

It's no use expecting 'the authorities' to do something about it.

Now, even more so than every before, we have to work with each other to solve this behaviour by working as communities that care and exercise constraint.

The lack of concern for young people by the Councillors for the most part is deplorable.

This was sickening.

These thugs must be someone's neighbours.

Yes and i bet the neighbours never speak to them and i think this is the point Geoff is trying to make.

Spot on!

However these kind of people are really intimidating and most people will fear the consequences.

I've talked to several people on the Market Square who didn't want me to get involved even to visit them because they thought they'd get their windows broken.

I believe action towards unruly people needs to be taken by a community group who, with the support of the police, are ready to take them on and stand up to them with reason and concern but not with violence.

Violence against violence just escalates the problem.

I've dealt with bullying in schools and talking really works - bringing the thugs and the victims together,to get them to realise what they really are doing, works. Even thugs have humanity lurking below the surface.

If this doesn't happen, the thugs will get bolder and we can expect the violence to steadily increase.

There are a lot of angry people about who are just looking for soft targets to hit out against.

See Ford Park over this last week-end.

The police acting on their own are not the answer - with the cut backs - we have to get involved in a responsible way.
