Disappointing Turnout

Only 30 people turned out for the Ulverston Town Centre consultation with the County Highways Authority. Sixteen of those were politicians who in some groups dominated the result. Hardly a consultation with the people.

The results of that consultation will be circulated before the next meeting on December 4th and published here, so that you can attend if you see something you want to share your views on!

I don't see the connection between attending the County Highway's meeting and voting for me.

I have nothing to do with the meetings other than as a member of the public.

It is the people of Ulverston who are being invited to say what they would like to see happen by the County Council.

I am talking to a lot of people who have lost their faith in 'the system' and are disinclined to put energy into something that might be pointless. People generally feel that they are no longer 'in control' and prefer something they can see and touch - like putting some shelves up - they can then stand back and say "That looks good!"

As for voting for me - I meet a lot of people who say they are enthusiastic which is encouraging. And I am managing to 'get things done'.

Who knows. . . until the election takes place, next year!
