Land at Stone Cross could become available

With the financial problems that have hit developers like Persimmons, we can expect this land to become available in the future.

It could be the basis of an excellent housing project controlled by the town.

A proposal for the use of Stone Cross was made to the SLDC Core Strategy consultation earlier this year. Here the possible use of the site is discussed in a little detail and it is suggested that SLDC assist the Town to raise funds for this project.

There are numerous problems to be solved but is there anyone who would like to give the matter some thought in advance? This could be an opportunity not to be missed. Contact me if interested.

Perhaps an opportunity for an eco-development, be it housing, educational or industrial? Finding a decent size parcel of land to do something meaningful rather than piecemeal is getting harder and harder afterall....

Thanks for this Rob.

Do carry on!

Here is the beginning of my submission to the Core Strategy consultation.

"1. Stone Cross Site

This provides a large area between Hill Foot Garden Centre and Stockbridge Lane which will provide many houses. There is space enough that they need not be bunched together and what would be desirable would be a mixture of a wide variety of houses, flats and bungalows some of them self-build some of them ‘affordable’. "

Now we need a little enthusiasm!
