It's cheaper - it must be good

We have all got hooked on the concept that money is important.

It is, but there are other things that are even more.

Feeling good about oneself is always my priority.

The Tesco issue highlights this.

We can do ridiculous things that if we stand back, and think about what we are doing, we realise that we are being totally inconsistent.

We know, when we stop and think, that people are far more important than money.

Many feel that having the latest fashion accessory is what makes us feel good and respected by those around us. If we stop and consider this we realise that actually loyal friends are far more important.

Gaining friends because we are 'with it' and share the views of the majority feels hollow when compared with supporting a real and faithful friend.

Some of our reliable shopkeepers have become trusted friends!

Some have not and can be avoided and ignored!

Lot of ngatives about Tesco here, but if Tesco are coming then it's far better they are in the town and not at an out of town retail park that would destroy the town. Having the store in the town has the potential to bring more people in, but because of the restricted parking, these shoppers will tend to be on foot and so will not just be jumping back in cars and dissapearing, they may well have a browse round other shops or have a coffee or somthing in a cafe or pub. If the presence of Tesco forces other retailers to up their game, then so be it, and I speak from a vested intrest being a retailer on Market Street.

Thanks for this comment. There are a lot of very good points here.

I'm coming round to the view that we should encourage people to think and make them aware of the results of their actions.

Asking questions though can only be good.

When a few people are convinced by exploring the issues themselves then they can have a dramatic effect on their environment.

We're going to depend on thoughtfulness to get us through the next ten years.

Ulverston is just the place for this to happen.

Beware Tesco !
