Encouraginng each other to be assertive is something that is very important to me! Relying on others can be very frustrating. People using their own initiative can often achieve far more. Self belief is important! We llive in a town where this already happens so much . It will be natural for us as to do this more and more..

Absolutely shocking work.
The contractors clearly have no pride in their work, but the council shouldn't be allowing it.
If someone did work like this on their homes they wouldn't accept it, so why is it deemed good enough for our town centre? Disgraceful.
Do you recall a few months ago the County Council magazine had a feature on potholes and how they were fixed ? A layer of sub-base ,a layer of base and an expertly applied layer of tarmac ,carefully tamped down. In reality some bloke turns up in an Escort van ,parks on the pavement thereby dislodging the flags and shovels a bit of tarmac on the spot. He then stamps it in with his boots and drives off .It takes 10 minutes per square foot. But they CAN spend £500,000 on a revamp of County Square because it's someone's pet project.
I've just sent off the following email to Colin Williams and Judith Pickthall, the town councillors , and to Jamie Samson the SLDC councillor for this location:

I am formerly requesting that you look into the use of asphalt in Lower Brook St as shown on page http://geoffdellow.blogspot.com/2009/02/how-much-more-will-ulverstonians-accept.html
You will see other people's comments. It would be good to have yours and what you propose to do about this.
Thank you,
Geoff Dellow

I'm sure that they will choose to reply here (Colin does regularly), if they reply to me personally I shall post their reply.
If I hear nothing I will also state this.
Well spotted Geoff. We'll see what the Councillors have to say!
Our local government services are disappearing down the plughole and no one cares!
You'll be lucky to get a reply from them, there all a bunch of clowns and you only see them when the polling stations are open and there wanting your votes
To be fair, the problem may again lie with Nick Raymond at the County Council and the way Capita operate.
This is probably Wendy Kolbe's,territory, the County Councillor for this area. (I'm sending her an email too!)
Many, many people are fed up with Raymond and nothing is said.
"We don't have any money." he pleads.
No wonder when you waste it by lack of supervision, as with the line marking 'work'and the relaying of the Market St cobbles after contractors have dug holes.
Here to prove you wrong is Councillor Colin Williams with this reply:
"Thanks Geoff, for bringing this to my attention.
I have called Graham Wheelhouses' office @ Cumbria County Council but he's out of the office until 3pm today, Thursday.
This is a shoddy repair to say the least, but leave it with me and we'll get it sorted as soon as possible.
cllr Col Williams"
Cllr Colin Williams again contacted me earlier this evening:
"Spoke to Mr Wheelhouse at 3.40pm today, and he is going to take a look and sort it out.
Cllr Col"
No one else replied.
Seems like the councillors for labour wards have been busy anyway, just got a leaflet through the door with there contact details on.There also saying there doing ward walks in the spring and summer, why then tho why not do them in winter??
Could be because of the dark evenings, which is why I stopped going door-to-door to chat and just delivered cards.
I'm looking forward to starting again as I met some fascinating people and had great chats. Some, older women mainly, invited me in for coffee. Occasionally, if they really liked my smile, I got a choccy biscuit and got shown their family tree - often there for over an hour and even got to make the tea - great fun!
Maybe, hopefully, the Labour wards are feeling the pressure from - that nuisance Independent candidate - what's-is-name - the one with the grey hair and the cuddly coat!
i must say it is a cuddly coat
Ay, I luv mi Cuddly Coat !
Note to Cllr Col:
"he is going to take a look and sort it out.
Cllr Col"
Seeing is believing - when they want the cobbles to put back - I've got them stashed away as they were getting thrown around, up and down the ginnels.
So whats the outcome of this, where's col at with the answers
