Encouraginng each other to be assertive is something that is very important to me!
Relying on others can be very frustrating. People using their own initiative can often achieve far more. Self belief is important!
We llive in a town where this already happens so much . It will be natural for us as to do this more and more..
MPs who carry out their work with a modicum of decency have nothing to be concerned about.
I disagree with the 'call off the dogs, it's damamaging democracy' rubbish. It's right and proper that those who have been milking the electorate are exposed and made to answer to the people paying their wages - just as anyone would have to in the private sector.
If there are lots of rotten eggs, of course it's going to take a longer to out them all. Let them sweat over if/when their scams and fiddles will become public knowledge.
It's worth bearing in mind that not all MPs have behaved in this disgraceful manner. Kelvin Hopkins of Luton North has been deservedly commended for his fair and reasonable approach to expenses. I'm sure this media coverage will do his re-election chances no harm at all - just reward in my book.
My particular gripe is the husband and wife MP double acts who have cynically exploited the system . They have claimed twice for second homes by reversing their places of residence and then flipping them the following year and doing it again.They deserve everythinh they get .And what about the severance packages ? it's another gravy train.
I know lots that claim expenses, and know they don't fiddle, if they did they would be sacked at best and at worst criminal action taken.
This would of blown other alot quicker if it wasn't for the small minority of mp's who have taken a liberty in their expenses and even though they've paid some cash back still don't understand what the big deal is. Two of those who have resign today haven't said sorry, they say they've finishing due to being a struggling mother and health reasons (nice timing).
So mp's have been fiddling expenses maybe the same with tax and now there made to pay it all back.Now if that was just the normal joe bloggs i bet they don't turn round and say o can you please pay it back,no they'd be arrested for fraud and holed in front of a judge,double standards and your suppose to have faith in these pricks,i'm just glad i vote they do nowt for me

The British people do not want to be represented by this greedy bunch using every trick in the book to squeeze as much money out of us as possible. They are worse than the Bankers they were all on their high horse about the other week. They call them "honourable members"..my arse! They are a den of thieves...rumour has it the Black Rod will shout "open sesame!" next time he knocks on the door..and...don't forget....the graveyard is full of "indispensible" people!

First, I do think really good MPs are being criticised unjustifiably by people who just want to have a go at anyone that they happen on.
There's a lot of anger about that people will direct at any one that is in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Secondly I find it hypocritical that many of those criticising , most likely will fiddle their taxes given the opportunity.
What's the difference?
In the case of MPs it seemed that they were actually encouraged to interpret the rules very loosely. No wonder some succumbed.
We're all clapping our hands with glee, but do we look in the mirror occasionally.
My biggest concern remains:
What quality of MP will we get next?
Good help us if the are at present County Councillors based on the little I've seen.

If they can do a worse job than the present crop I'd love to see it.
