This is the view as one approaches the Roxy this Saturday morning.
And this is what is found on the door step.
Not the images that convey responsible behaviour the night before when this new music venture was in action.
Neighbours across the main road are already reporting a deterioration in the noise levels coming from this venue and these images tell their own story.
Suspicions that excessive drinking here would be condoned are being confirmed.
The management will have to take a firm approach and not serve alcohol to people who abuse their nighbourhood. It is the man behind the bar that needs to take action. Profits from beer sales must be secondary to this place being a benefit to Ulverston.
At present the signs are not good and I am seeking an interview with the promoters. Now is the time for a firm approach to be taken or they will have Ulverstonians turning against them.

I don't think 2 beer bottles constitutes a crisis but there is a problem with large groups of people gathering outside the Roxy DURING and after licensing hours. If the door staff can't move them on it is up to the police to do so - or is it too far for them to walk from the copshop on the other side of the road ? The same problem arises outside the Sun and people walk from pub to pub carrying drinks - which is illegal . Why don't the police act ? it's the same answer - they are too idle to get out of the van.
Ulverston police must be the laziest on earth. In Barrow you see foot patrols in the town but not here.

The images are indications rather than the problem.
Why should the police have to get involved? If the Roxy was being run differently then the problem wouldn't arise.
There are other music venues that require no policing for the most part.
As for the police behaviour; my experience is that they come quickly. I'm not clear at present whether the Ulverston station is manned at night. The officers certainly can be from Dalton.
My point is that a police presence ON FOOT serves as a deterrent to bad behaviour. Go to any town bar Ulverston and you see foot patrols. Groups of noisy people outside the Roxy are probably under age and been refused admission. It then becomes police responsibility - that is the law ,that is fact.Don't blame the Roxy for what they cannot control.
The problem with the Roxy at the moment is that they are not on Barwatch, therefore, at the moment, the retards have a free run to behave as they do, and because of this the police are fairly powerless. An application has been made to the LVA to be admitted to the Barwatch scheme, but, internal politics within that particular nest of vipers may prevent that in order to let the Roxy deal with the neanderthals unaided....if they can!!
